Brittle or fragile nails: what your body is trying to tell you
We almost never notice them… until they start breaking at the slightest impact. Nails that split, crumble, or soften: this small, everyday detail can quickly become irritating, even alarming. But what if your nails were actually trying to tell you something? Because behind seemingly cosmetic problems, there’s often a more general imbalance related to nail health.
Why nails are the first thing to cause concern
Nails grow slowly and reflect what happens to the body over time. When they become brittle, it’s usually due to a lack of some essential components in the body. It’s like a house with weak foundations: everything else eventually changes.

Constant tiredness, an unbalanced diet, chronic stress or overly aggressive habits… the causes are usually multiple and develop silently.

Nutrition: a key that is often overlooked

Nails are made primarily of keratin, a protein that requires specific nutrients to stay strong.

A deficiency in B vitamins, especially those related to hair and nail health, can cause them to become thinner and more brittle. Similarly, a protein deficiency can slow hair growth and weaken its structure.
