Choose the Right Ginger Rhizomes

The first step to successful ginger cultivation is selecting high-quality rhizomes. Look for fresh, plump pieces of ginger with multiple “eyes” or growth buds. These look like small horn-like protrusions and are the points from which the plant will sprout. Organic ginger is often preferable, as conventionally grown rhizomes may be treated with growth inhibitors to prevent sprouting.

If your ginger rhizomes feel too dry, soak them in warm water for 12 hours to rehydrate before planting.
